The December 2009 issue of the Houston Bar Bulletin highlighted Gordon Quan’s recent recognition for his dedication to the international community in Houston:

Gordon J. Quan, co-chair of Foster Quan, LLP, is the 2009 recipient of the International Service Award presented by the Houston Consular Corps. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the international community of Houston in the field of business, education, diplomacy, culture or the arts.

Quan mulls run for county judge

Houston Chronicle—November 30th, 2009

Former City Councilman Gordon Quan confirmed today that he is considering running for the Democratic nomination for Harris County judge next year.

Quan, an immigration lawyer, said he plans to announce a decision near the middle of December.

First, he said, he’ll investigate what impact he could make as one of the five-member Commissioners Court that runs county government. (more…)

I was born in mainland China, near Guangzhou, southern China. My parents are both U.S. citizens, actually, and my father had served in the U.S. army in Germany in World War II. My mother was born in Georgia, her family had a grocery store there. They were married in San Antonio, Texas but then returned to China after World War II. My father was studying under the GI Bill, and that’s why I was born in China. (more…)
