Fiscal Responsibility
“Taxpayers put a lot of trust in their officials when it comes to wisely using their tax dollars. I believe we can do better by the Harris County taxpayer. We can be more efficient and more thoughtful with how we spend tax dollars. Over the course of this campaign, I will be discussing various ways to reduce the burden on Harris County taxpayers.”
–Gordon Quan
Gordon Quan has a strong record when it comes to fiscal responsibility. As Mayor Pro-Tem, Gordon produced a budget that cut spending by 20%. He will continue to apply the lessons he has been learning in business going all the way back to the grocery store his family owned and operated in Houston’s East End.
Harris County has made some costly mistakes recently that have unnecessarily taxed our residents. Gordon Quan will work to root out inefficiencies and “sweet heart deals” that do not serve the public good.
Gordon will also work with other local governmental entities to determine how we can better leverage each other’s services. He will aggressively seek state and federal funding to supplement our tax dollars. And Gordon recognizes the need to conduct an analysis of assets and sell or re-develop property owned by the county using commercial appraisers.
