What Does the County Judge Do?
Even though the Harris County Judge doesn’t wear a black robe or preside over trials, he or she does go to court: to the Harris County Commissioners Court.
The County Judge is like the CEO of Harris County, charged with presiding over the Commissioners Court and working with the Court to make sure County services run smoothly.
The Court is responsible for ensuring county operations, such as the setting of the tax rate and oversight of county departments like the Harris County Hospital District, work efficiently.
Decisions made at the Commissioner’s Court directly affect you. It’s vital that we have a leader at the Court that is experienced, energetic, and effective.
